Service of Remembrance for All Souls
—Nicole Akpieyi, 29 October 2017
At the All Souls service which took place on Sunday 29th October, both sides of the altar had candles laid out. Names of loved ones lost were called out during the service and as each name was read out, members of the congregation went to light a candle. This year’s service was led by Fr Ainsley and the sermon was delivered by the Rev Margaret Bird.
Every candle lit represents a person who has departed from us. This symbolises that though they are gone, they are not forgotten. We pray that their souls rest in peace and sleep eternally in the bosom of our dear Father in heaven. Amen.
